On Thursday, the Detroit Red Wings and Olympia Entertainment announced promotions and other details regarding the 2016-17 Red Wings season, the last to be played in Joe Louis Arena.

Some of the special events happening next year include:
- Celebrations honoring the Stanley Cup Championships and the biggest games held at The Joe
- Alumni celebrations featuring Red Wings greats at The Joe
- Special ticket design on all home Red Wings tickets
- One-of-a-kind giveaways for fans in attendance at Red Wings games
- Commemorative patch on both the Red Wings home and away jerseys

Those patches that will go on the jerseys look pretty awesome too.

Everything about this patch looks classic, the dates of the arena, to the Stanley Cup silhouette in the O, and my favorite part, the four stars representing the four Stanley Cups won in the Joe Louis Arena era.

Of course, there does seem to be room for a fifth star on the patch should things go right this year, but that's neither here nor there. A very solid commemoration patch on a timeless jersey and logo that hasn't wavered in decades.
