Last month, Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay told Dave Burkett that he was one of the seven best cornerbacks in the league and wanted to compensated as one. Today, he got exactly what he asked for.

The Detroit Lions and Slay have agreed to a four-year contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport. The contract is worth $50.2 million with $23 million guaranteed at signing.

Making an average $12.55 million person, Slay is the sixth highest-paid cornerback in the league.

Slay has played three seasons with the Lions after being drafted from Mississippi State in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He has played in every game for the last two seasons, totaling 120 tackles, four interceptions and 30 pass deflections.
