Dantonio: Michigan State Has Rescheduled Next Season’s Bye Week

In the midst of his worst season as the head football coach at Michigan State, Mark Dantonio's 2017 squad faced a similar schedule until today.

During his weekly press conference Mark Dantonio was asked about next season's schedule being just as (if not more daunting) than this season's due to an early bye.

Before this news Michigan State was slated for a week one bye in 2017, meaning they would have 12 straight weeks of games to play. This season their bye was week two, meaning this week's season finale at Penn State will have been the 11th straight game played on a weekly basis.

As it currently stand Michigan State's 2017 schedule features Bowling Green, Western Michigan and Notre Dame all travelling to Spartan Stadium before their nine game Big Ten schedule commences, also uninterrupted.

In terms of getting 2016 out the door and waiting for 2017 to come around for the football program, Dantonio had some dry humor for the room.

2017 is also the first year Michigan State does away with it's FCS opponent obligations. They opened against FCS Furman this season.
