On Friday, Chris Webber was appearing on an Ann Arbor sports talk show as a guest when Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh called in.

Harbaugh issued an invitation to Chris Webber to be an honorary captain one day during the upcoming football season. For his part, Webber accepted.

Webber rose to fame during the 1991 and 1992 Michigan basketball seasons a member of the 'Fab Five' alongside Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson.

Michigan made it to the NCAA Championship Game both seasons before suffering heart breaking losses against Duke and North Carolina.

The agreement to be a part of Michigan's football season marks a significant update in Webber's relationship with the university.

Ties to the Ed Martin scandal have caused Webber to keep a strong distance from his former school over the years.

Webber was accused of receiving money from Michigan Booster Martin over the course of his two seasons at the school. Because of the scandal, he was fined and Michigan had wins over those seasons vacated.

This past week, Carl Martin, son of Ed Martin was on the Mad Dog Show to discuss his book, 'Booster' about the period of the scandal.
