The Buffalo Bills have made National Football League history by hiring Kathryn Smith as the team's new special teams quality control coach.

Smith is now the first full-time female assistant coach in the NFL.  This preseason, the Arizona Cardinals hired Dr. Jen Welter to be an assistant during training camp.

Smith was an administrative assistant for the Bills this season, and has worked for the New York Jets the last 12 years.
