The Spartans drew first blood after Connor Cook completed a 15 yard pass to Keith Mumphery for a touchdown. Ohio State responded quickly after T.J. Barrett rushed for 5 yards to tie up the game. A fumble from a punt kicked by Mike Sadler would allow Jeremy Langford to later rush 33 yards for a TD to re-take the lead, 14-7. Barrett rushed for another 5 yards early in the second quarter to tie up the game again. Langford broke the tie with a 1 yard rush TD. But the Buckeyes came back after Barrett threw a 78 yard pass to Michael Thomas for a TD to keep the game tied. Ohio State took the lead late in the 2nd quarter after Barrett made a 44 yard TD pass to Devin Smith to make it 28-21 going into halftime. To start the 3rd quarter, Michael Geiger kicked a 40 yard field goal to make it 28-24 OSU. The Buckeyes increased their lead after Ezekiel Elliot rushed a yard for a TD. In the 4th, Barrett threw 7 yards to Dontre Wilson for another TD, giving the Buckeyes a 42-24 lead. The Spartans started to fight back after Cook threw a 17 yard pass to Josiah Price for a TD. The Buckeyes responded in kind after Barrett rushed for 55 yards, allowing Elliot to rush 17 yards for another TD. Langford rushed for a yard for his third TD of the night, 49-37 OSU. Connor Cook led the game in passing for 358 yards, Ezekiel Elliot rushed for 154 yards, and Devin Smith led in receiving for 129 yards.
