Longtime ABC/ESPN announcer Brent Musburger (pictured with colleague Dick Vitale) has announced his retirement from broadcasting, effective January 31st when he calls the Georgia at Kentucky college basketball game.

Musburger, who's 77 years old, made his name nationally during his 15 year run at CBS from 1975-1990.  He hosted The NFL Today, the NFL pregame show on CBS during those years.  And he also covered college football, NBA and college basketball, and on the radio side, baseball.

His departure from CBS in 1990 was highly publicized, as was his arrival at ABC that same year.
