The Lansing State Journal is reporting breaking news Friday afternoon. Michigan State University officials have confirmed a data breach last weekend by what are called "unauthorized users."

According to the report, a database was accessed containing some 400,000 names, university identification numbers, and social security numbers. MSU officials say that only 449 profiles were confirmed to have been accessed. The database that was breached was reportedly taken offline within 24 hours of being illegally accessed.
