Baylor University announced in a statement on Thursday that they have fired their head football coach, Art Briles, after eight seasons at the helm.

This after the the school has come under fire for its handling of numerous sexual assault allegations involving a number of Bear football players.

The statement also says that school president Kenneth Starr will now become Baylor's chancellor.  Dr. David Garland will become the interim president while athletic director Ian McCaw "has been sanctioned and placed on probation."  Both Starr and McCaw have been criticized for their part in this scandal.

Briles' program won the school's first outright Big 12 Championship ever in 2013, and shared the league title in 2014.  His team lost to Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl following the 2014 season.  He was 65-38 during his tenure in Waco.
