The NFL gave the players an ultimatum and it was the players who blinked first.

Julius Peppers, James Harrison and Clay Matthews are meeting with the NFL over PED allegations. The NFL announced that the players had to come forward to discuss why their names appeared in an Al-Jazeera report about PEDs or face possible suspensions earlier this week.

Now retired, Peyton Manning was also named in the same report but he cleared his name earlier this offseason.

The NFL's deadline was August 25th for the players to meet with NFL officials.

Mike Neal, a free-agent linebacker, was also named in the report but has not yet announced he will meet with NFL officials prior to the deadline. Neal played on the Packers last season with Peppers and Matthews.
