Several high school football teams in the Lansing-area are among the state's best, according to the latest Associated Press rankings.

Nine teams from the region find themselves ranked as of Monday. A 10th team, Morrice, is on the cusp of being ranked.

DeWitt has a chance to surge up the rankings--perhaps even overtake the No. 1 spot in Division 3--if the undefeated Panthers can knock off Menominee, who is ranked No. 1 in Division 5 yet again. Rob Zimmerman and his team trek seven hours and 400-plus miles to play the Maroon at 7 p.m. Friday.
