1. Branden Dawson played great on Saturday, and MSU needed everything he gave in order to beat a pesky Harvard team.  Dawson had 26 points and nine rebounds, and Gary Harris contributed 18 points.  Michigan State actually trailed this game 62-60 with about seven minutes remaining, but Travis Trice hit a three pointer to put the Spartans ahead and they never looked back.

Michigan State will play the #1 seeded Virginia Cavaliers, who defeated Memphis yesterday.  Virginia is one of the best defensive teams in the country, ranking #5 in the defensive efficiency in the regular season.  They are a long team that plays at a slow pace, and MSU will need to take every opportunity they can to score in transition.

2. The MSU women also got the job done.  They blew out Hampton by 30 points to move to the second round of the NCAA tournament.  Aerial Powers had 26 points and 18 rebounds.  They will play North Carolina tomorrow at 7:10.

3. Michigan was on fire from the three-point line in their win over Texas.  They hit 14-28 threes, and Nik Stauskas hit four of them.  U of M will play Tennessee in the round of 16.  The Volunteers are led by big man Jarnell Stokes, who averaged 15.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.

4.  The Red Wings had a pretty productive weekend, getting two points in three games against the Minnesota Wild.  Matt Moulson scored the game winner in overtime yesterday on a really nice deflection play.  The Wings are now tied for 7th in the eastern conference with Toronto.  You can view the full standings here on nhl.com.
