We all hate mosquitoes.

But there are some of us who don't want to use chemicals to keep these little vampires off our skin. Chemical sprays may keep bugs off, but those same chemicals can be harmful to some people.

So here are some natural ways to keep mosquitoes off of you, thanks to the Farmer’s Almanac.

  • 1

    Sage and Rosemary

Burn a little sage and rosemary over coals. It can work as a repellent to mosquitoes.

  • 2

    Vinegar

Rub cider vinegar on your skin--it can repel insects. If you ingest enough cider vinegar by putting it on food you eat, you'll develop a body odor that repels insects.

  • 3

    Baby Oil/Imitation Vanilla Extract

Rubbing your skin with baby oil or imitation vanilla extract repels biting insects, like mosquitoes.

  • 4

    Vitamin B1

Some people have luck repelling mosquitoes with high doses of vitamin B1 (100 milligrams, two or three times a day), but it doesn’t work for everybody.

  • 5

    Garlic

Some people swear garlic works at repelling mosquitoes (makes sense, they are sort of vampiric). Some people swallow slivers of garlic to ward them off. Others take garlic tables or rub garlic juice on their skin.
